RIVAL SONS // Hellfest, Valley Stage

Rival Sons delivered a high-energy and dynamic performance at the Valley Stage of Hellfest 2024, held on June 30. Known for their gritty blend of blues rock, the band electrified the festival with a set that spanned fan favorites and newer tracks from their recent albums, DARKFIGHTER and LIGHTBRINGER.

Lead vocalist Jay Buchanan captivated the crowd with his commanding stage presence and soaring vocals, especially on hits like “Too Bad” and “Keep on Swinging,” while Scott Holiday’s signature fuzz-laden guitar riffs added a vintage yet raw edge to their sound. Their performance showcased their commitment to pure, unadulterated rock ‘n’ roll, while engaging with both long-time followers and new fans in the eclectic Hellfest audience.

Their set drew heavily from their critically acclaimed discography, and the crowd’s energy was palpable during standout tracks like “Do Your Worst” and “Electric Man.” The synergy between the band members, including Mike Miley on drums and Dave Beste on bass, was evident, creating a tight and powerful sound that resonated across the Valley Stage

Overall, Rival Sons’ Hellfest performance was a reminder of why they remain a force in the rock scene today, and their mix of older hits with newer material was well-received by the festival’s audience.
